Winning such a match can be a game changer for a wrestler’s career, but now a wrestler’s claim that he was scheduled to win one of them is being called into question.

Earlier this week, Matt Riddle claimed that he was possibly scheduled to win the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble, only to have Brock Lesnar win the match instead after pushing to do so. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Riddle was “never considered seriously at any point” to win the match. It is not clear how far in advance WWE had decided Lesnar would win the match. Riddle was released from WWE in September 2023.
