Leverkusen: the Real Madrid player that Xabi Alonso absolutely wants

Immediately crowned German champion (Leverkusen can still dream of a C3 + German Cup treble), Xabi Alonso keeps his mind turned to the future. Not immune to losing several elements this summer, the Spanish technician does not want to endure the situation and is multiplying avenues for next season, particularly in central defense. As reported by the German daily BILD this Wednesday, the 42-year-old technician would have identified a Real Madrid player as one of his priorities.

It is not Eder Militão, nor David Alaba or Nacho Fernandez, but rather Rafa Marin (21), the club’s great hope loaned to Alavés since last summer. Author of a big season with the club from the suburbs of Madrid (29 La Liga matches), Marin has established himself as one of the revelations of the year in Spain. A rise in power which could invite Real Madrid to incorporate it into its rotation, or to sell it again, either in the form of a loan, or a permanent transfer with a possible buyout clause. Note that Josip Stanisic, loaned to Leverkusen this season, will return to Bayern Munich this summer, and that the future of Jonathan Tah and Piero Hincapié still remains uncertain. Data which could thus push Leverkusen to move up a gear for Marin.
