Lewandowski and Xavi, the clash behind the scenes

FC Barcelona intends to approach the market convincingly this summer, despite its continued financial difficulties.

Barca want to sign at least one high-profile player, namely a new center, but it is likely that sales will be necessary to find funds.

Robert Lewandowski is one of the players whose sale would help Barcelona in their quest for funds. The Polish striker commands one of the highest salaries in the first team and given he has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, this could be a very good opportunity to sell him now, considering he is also 35 years old.

An agent problem

However, Barcelona will not have the help of Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi to orchestrate a departure this summer, as Joan Fontes reports that the Israeli is furious that the Blaugrana have not signed another of his clients to become their new manager, namely Hansi Flick.

This means that Lewandowski’s stay at Barcelona is very likely for at least one more season, given that the player himself has openly admitted on several occasions that he has no plans to leave. Club leaders will therefore certainly have to consider other options for their summer sales.
