Robert Lewandowski ends the weekend top of the La Liga goalscoring charts with six league goals in 2024/25.

The Polish veteran has scored in four of Barcelona’s six league games so far this season, starting each time. Despite being the oldest member of the Blaugrana’s attack, his precision in front of goal remains as sharp as ever, and he scored twice in the weekend’s 5-1 win at Villarreal.

Managing the game load will be crucial for the 36-year-old in the coming months but he has already underlined his determination to score 20-plus league goals again.

Lewandowski on course for record

All six goals were scored in the box, and Lewandowski met the pre-season requirement of more crosses into the penalty area, and he is confident there will be more to come.

“This season we are looking for more passes or crosses into the box, and as a striker that is my area, I can do a lot of things.“, according to quotes from Marca.

With the schedule intensifying in the coming weeks, between La Liga and the Champions League, Lewandowski looks set to be rested at some point, as Getafe travel to Catalonia on September 25.
