Lexis King is no longer Brian Pillman Jr, because he is making name for himself. That road to glory in pro wrestling also came with a bit of a viral reaction after he debuted a very precise beard when he made his presence known in NXT.

Coming from this generation of pro wrestling, Lexis King realizes that anything that gets fans talking is a good thing. It’s when they’re not talking about you that you need to be worried. When he showed up with a new beard on NXT, a lot of fans took notice.

While speaking to Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Lexis King revealed that it was Carmelo Hayes who actually hooked him up with his barber. That garnered him a lot of attention early on, and he rode the viral wave.

“That’s something that worked out for me. It’s all about engagement and getting fans interested. It’s funny, because I saw a fan say ‘Oh, Trick and Melo hooked him up with their barber’ and that’s true. It’s funny, because I moved to Orlando, and I thought, ‘I need to hit someone up and find the best barber.’ So I texted Melo, well I hit him on Twitter, because I didn’t have his phone number at the time. I said, ‘Hey man who’s the best barber in Orlando?’ He said, ‘Don’t worry man, I’ll hook you up with Charlie.'”

It appears that Charlie’s work was good enough to go viral. Plenty of fans commented on Lexis King’s beard and his lines whenever he debuted on NXT. His beard is now a staple for his character, so he needs to keep it up. Odds are, King will visit Charlie for a very long time to come.

Lexis King is still doing his thing as a heel in NXT, and he’s quite a loose cannon, much like his father. He may have changed his name, but his attitude is very much a Pillman.

What’s your take on Lexis King’s new look when he debuted for NXT? Did you love it right away? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
