Post-mortem arrangements for Liam Payne are underway, and his body will soon be released to his family… Finally.
It’s been just under three weeks now since the One Direction alum tragically passed away at the Casasur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Local authorities reported he jumped from his fourth floor balcony, but it remains unclear what his intention was. However, drug paraphernalia was found in his room after his death, and the late 31-year-old was found to have several drugs in his system at the time of his death, including cocaine, crack, benzodiazepine, and “pink cocaine,” which is commonly made up of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA, and other drugs.

Because of the uncertainty surrounding his death, Liam’s father Geoff Payne wanted a full investigation conducted. So because of that, the Teardrops singer’s body could not initially be released from Argentina as it continued to remain a central part of the investigation. But in the meantime, it sounds like the Payne family has bee planning quite the sendoff for the beloved singer.
On Tuesday, a close friend of the late artist told DailyMail.com:
“Liam’s body is expected to be flown home any day now. Arrangements are in place for that now and once his body is back in Britain the next step will be to announce the funeral plan.”
Thank goodness. We hope this will help his family to feel some form of closure amid this unimaginably difficult situation — if that’s really even possible given the tragedy.
According to the source, “Liam will have a very big send off, quite probably at a large cathedral somewhere close to his heart.” They added:
“Liam was so loved by so many people, there will obviously be enormous demand and so the service will necessarily be a huge affair. The details are still under wraps until they are definitively signed off but should be announced very soon.”
We’re sure the service will be beautiful. And it’s great to hear that so many people want to surround the family with love on what will surely be a difficult day. If you remember, fans rushed to the CasaSur Palermo Hotel after news broke of Liam’s death to hold a candlelight vigil and uplift him with song. We’re sure there will be a lot more of that on the day of his funeral — in person and around the world.
Our hearts continue to be with all of Liam’s loved ones!
