This Monday evening, the closing match of the 25th day of La Liga pitted Athletic Bilbao (5th, 46 points) against Girona. Second with 56 points before the start of the match, the Spanish club had the opportunity to reduce the distance with Real Madrid (1st, 62 points). But things started badly for Girona. After a poor recovery from Aleix Garcia in the middle, Berenguer scored from the left in the 2nd minute (1-0).

Despite attempts from both sides, the score did not change until the break. In the second period, Tsygankov equalized in the 49th (1-1) before Berenguer scored twice (2-1, 56th). Then, Bilbao widened the gap thanks to a goal from Iñaki Williams in the 60th. Girona did not give up and reduced the score through Eric Garcia, author of a headed goal (3-2, 75th). While Dovbyk was close to equalizing in stoppage time (90th + 2), Girona finally lost 3 to 2 and made a very bad operation. The club, still second in La Liga, is still 6 points behind Real Madrid. For its part, Bilbao is getting closer to Atlético de Madrid.
