FC Barcelona have been tracking several young talents from Europe and outside in order to bolster their youth and reserve ranks with an eye on the future.

One such player who appears to have caught the attention of the Catalans is Momodou Sonko.

Barcelona set sights on Sonko

Indeed, the 18-year-old winger, who plays for Swedish club BK Hacken, has emerged as a target for the Blaugrana as per reports relayed by Football Transfers.

Despite being just 18 years old, Hacken has already made 44 senior appearances for Hacken, scoring 14 goals and setting up eight more in the process.

A left-winger by trade, the teenager has also been called up to the Swedish national team, but is yet to make his debut for them.

As such, Sonko has managed to catch the attention of Barcelona. However, there appears to be a transfer battle brewing for the services of the teenage attacker.

Liverpool, Ajax also in the race

As per the report, apart from Barcelona, Premier League big guns Liverpool and Dutch giants AFC Ajax are also interested in securing the services of Sonko from Hacken.

It is claimed that the Reds recently sent club officials to Sweden to officially express their interest in signing the 18-year-old. And even though a formal offer is yet to be tabled, talks are believed to have gone positively.

The report suggests that Hacken would seek a sum of €7 million for Sonko, which would not be a problem for any of the clubs in the race.

It now remains to be seen if Barcelona, who are also working to sign another Swedish talent in Lucas Bergvall, are ready to push forward in their pursuit of Sonko as well.
