Liverpool head into the midweek round of Premier League matches with a 12 point lead at the top of the table, seemingly storming towards a first league title since 2020 and just a second in the last 35 years.

Arne Slot's side have won 21 of their 29 league games since taking over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer, losing only once way back in September.

However, the Reds head into tonight's Merseyside derby with defeats in each of their last two games, being knocked out of the Champions League on on penalties at the Round of 16 stage to PSG and losing to Newcastle in the final of the Carabao Cup the following weekend.

Liverpool will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Everton this week, especially after having conceded a 98th minute equaliser to the Toffees earlier this season in the final every derby at Goodison Park.

Everton make the short trip across Stanley Park unbeaten in their last nine Premier League matches, however with only one win in their last seven games in all competitions after drawing five of their last six.

The Toffees have been revitalised following the appointment of David Moyes after the sacking of Sean Dyche in January, with the Scot taking over the side sat just a solitary point above the relegation zone.

11 weeks later, Everton are only have eyes up the table rather than down, having opened up a 17 point gap between themselves and the relegation zone, level on points with Tottenham and just three behind Manchester United.

The Merseyside club are unbeaten in their last four away games in all competitions and have lost just one of their last seven, however, they have only won three away games all season, though two of those have come in their last four games.

Everton are unbeaten in their last two Merseyside derbies, but that Reds had won four of the five previous meetings between the two Liverpool-based clubs.

Everton have only won once at Anfield since the turn of the century, spanning 27 meetings, and have lost on seven of their last visits to Liverpool's home stadium.
