Manchester City have dropped two points in the Premier League title race after being held to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the Etihad.

But the Citizens will feel aggrieved after they had a penalty shout waved away by VAR in injury time, despite replays showing Levi Colwill handling the ball.

The reigning champions started the day second and two points behind Liverpool, but have now dropped to third.

Liverpool beat Brentford 4-1 earlier on Saturday to put pressure on City, with Arsenal also winning 5-0 at Burnley.

And City failed to claim the three points, where they had to settle for a fourth draw of the season.

Raheem Sterling came back to haunt his former side to break the deadlock with a fine finish into the bottom corner following a swift Chelsea counter-attack in the 42nd minute.

Pep Guardiola's side kept pushing for a response, with Erling Haaland missing a glaring chance as the clock ticked down.

City finally found their desired equaliser in the 83rd minute as Rodri's powerful shot took a deflection off Trevoh Chalobah and into the back of the net.

And then came the controversy, with Colwill handling the ball in added time, though VAR stated that it was accidental.
