Man City are reportedly considering making a summer approach for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazilian has continued his fine form in black and white, and although the club, as a whole, have endured a disappointing campaign this time out, Guimaraes, 26, has remained a standout performer.

Widely regarded as the side’s best player, Guimaraes, who has also represented Brazil on 18 occasions, has understandably emerged as a fan favourite.

Against wanting to sell the 26-year-old but aware of their need to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, Newcastle United, backed by their wealthy Saudi ownership, must decide whether or not to cash in on the industrious midfielder.

And according to a recent report from Fichajes, although the club have successfully inserted a release clause worth a whopping £100 million into the midfielder’s latest contract, treble winners Man City remain keen on the idea of bringing him to the Etihad.

Man City, along with Paris Saint-Germain, are said to be ‘thinking about’ meeting the Magpies’ demands as soon as the summer transfer window opens.

Considering his status among the Newcastle team, Guimaraes is likely to find any decision over his future a hard one to make, however, turning down the chance to join one of Europe’s most successful clubs will be equally as tough.

Since joining the Magpies from Lyon at the beginning of 2022, Guimaraes, who has three-and-a-half years left on his deal, has scored 13 goals and registered 13 assists in 96 games in all competitions.
