Premier League clubs Manchester United and Arsenal could go head to head in their race to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.
During a loan stint at Leeds United in the second part of last season, the USA international failed to make an impression, assisting just one goal in 20 games as the Whites tumbled to the Championship.
McKennie returned to his parent club Juventus and he has been a completely different player for them in the Serie A.
The 25-year-old has not been able to score a goal this season, but he has set up seven goals in 26 Serie A games and collected nine assists from 27 appearances in all competitions.
Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli are both serving protracted suspensions for doping and illegal betting, respectively, therefore McKennie has taken charge of the midfield for the Italian giants.
The former Schalke sensation, who has been playing well recently, still has 18 months left on his Juventus deal. As a result, Juventus may have to make a summer sale before he leaves on a free agent in 2025.
Although McKennie’s contract is thought to be up for extension with the Bianconeri, GIVEMESPORT reports that the American is currently being set up for a return to the Premier League with either Man United or Arsenal.
The report goes on to say that despite McKennie’s accomplishments in 123 appearances for Juventus—13 goals, 14 assists, and one Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana—there are still significant questions over his long-term future in Italy.
McKennie still thinks he can succeed in the Premier League, and teams like Man United, Arsenal, Fulham, and Aston Villa are reportedly keeping a close eye on the player.
