Manchester United are reportedly tracking Victor Osimhen who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, but one of their current ranks must be sacrificed first.

The Lagos native cemented himself as one of the deadliest marksmen in Europe during his time at Napoli, leading the club towards a historic Scudetto triumph in the 2022/23 campaign.

But following that remarkable achievement, things swiftly turned sour as is often the case in Naples, and the Nigerian’s rapport with the club and its president Aurelio De Laurentiis completely deteriorated throughout the abysmal 2023/24 season.

Osimhen had no intention of donning the Partenopei jersey again, but he failed to seal a deal with a top European club, despite reported interest from Chelsea who were seemingly keen to land a new striker.

In the end, the 25-year-old signed for Galatasaray on loan just to avoid sitting on the sidelines until January. Nevertheless, it has been reported that the agreement between Napoli and the Turkish giants includes a clause that allows the Italian club to terminate the loan stint in case they were to receive a suitable offer for the player, which has to be in the region of €75 million, the value of his release clause.

So according to Fichajes.net, this clause could facilitate Man United’s mission to sign the Nigeria international.

The Red Devils are reportedly adamant about bolstering Ruben Amorim’s attacking ranks, but as it has been reported previously, the club doesn’t have the required funds in January.

Therefore, the Premier League giants would have to sell one of their strikers, and the report identifies Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford as the most plausible candidates.

The Dutchman has yet to hit his stride since joining the club in the summer, and he’s reportedly enticed by a return to Serie A, with Juventus and Napoli reportedly interested in his services.

On the other hand, Rashford’s troublesome period has been well-documented, culminating in his omission from the matchday squad ahead of the Manchester Derby.
