Jadon Sancho has begun flat hunting in Dortmund with the prospect of a return to Manchester United this summer fading fast.
Sancho, 23, rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan during the January transfer window after his acrimonious falling out with Erik ten Hag this season.
After being frozen out of the team in Manchester, the winger described his return to Germany as a ‘return home’, making 10 appearances for the club.
While some of his performances back in the Bundesliga have been questioned, Sancho scored in his final two appearances before the international break, including a goal that helped send Dortmund through to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Dortmund are eager to keep him at the club beyond this season but it remains to be seen whether they can afford a permanent arrangement.
Sancho has cut a content figure since rejoining the club with The Times reporting he is already making arrangements for an extended stay.
Sancho has been staying at a hotel in Dortmund since returning to the city in January but is now said to be flat-hunting as he enters the final weeks of the season.
Recent reports have suggested United are ready to take a sizable hit and cash in on the player who cost them £72million three years ago.
Dortmund are said to be prepared to offer around £35m to make the deal permanent, with United open to accepting that offer to help raise funds this summer.
Sancho was dropped from the squad ahead of a Premier League clash against Arsenal at the beginning of the season with ten Hag revealing his lack of effort in training had led to that decision.
Sancho publicly challenged those comments on social media, effectively calling his manager a liar.
He was subsequently banished from the squad and from the club’s first-team training facilities, refusing to apologise for his comments.
Sancho’s future could yet depend on what decision Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS make over ten Hag and whether he remains United manager next season.
