This was more exciting that any call to the bullpen.
Vice President and California native Kamala Harris posted a clip on social media today of her and husband Doug Emhoff phoning Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to congratulate him on the team’s World Series victory. Watch a clip of their call below.
Harris admit that she “wasn’t able to watch the live, but of course your biggest fan Doug Emhoff did.” The now-three-time MLB champ tells the veep, “I was just hoping that your allegiance would stay on the West Coast.” She replies, “I promise you, I promise you I was rooting for the Dodgers all the way.”
Emhoff later tells the Dodgers skipper that he and the Dem White House nominee were doing events during Wednesday’s clinching Game 5, but “we had our phones out. And so when we got in the car after one event, you were down 5-0. By the time we got to our next event, it was 5-5. By the time we were done for the evening, we saw you celebrating, and it was such a thrill.”
The video cuts back and forth from the second couple — both of whom turned 60 last month — to a beaming Roberts and his wife Tricia.
“Please enjoy this moment, and thank you for all the joy you bring us.” Harris tells Roberts. The skipper replies, “Madam Vice President, good luck on Election Day.”
The Dodgers polished off the New York Yankees four games to one to secure the club’s eighth World Series title and seventh since relocating from Brooklyn before the 1958 season.
