Savinho has been a name in focus throughout the new season, having emerged as one of the rising stars in La Liga. Currently on loan at Girona, the young forward has played a key role in helping the Catalan outfit compete with Real Madrid for the league title this season.

Savinho’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona among the clubs interested in his services.

It is no secret that Barça are looking for a new winger in the market. Savinho, to that end, has emerged as one of the potential targets, as the club look to reinforce the attacking ranks in the summer of 2024.

However, Barcelona are facing a strong challenge from none other than Manchester City. The English giants are owned by the same group as Girona and the player’s parent club, Troyes, which has made them the undisputed leader in the race to sign the Brazilian in the summer.

The report suggests that the English giants are in pole position to sign the Girona starlet, who is set to return to Troyes after the end of the season.

Daily Star points out that Man City’s connection with Troyes is a key factor as to why the Premier League giants are ahead in the chase.

Blow for Barcelona, Real Madrid

Man City’s position in the Savinho chase could serve as a major blow for not only Barcelona but also Real Madrid.

Both Spanish giants were keeping close tabs on Savinho throughout the season and would have welcomed his services next season.

But with Man City seemingly destined to sign him in the summer, it appears Barcelona must look at other alternatives in the market.
