Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda at the end of the season, according to reports in Portugal.

United are on the brink of completing their first signing of the January transfer window with Patrick Dorgu set to arrive in a €35 million (£29.2m) deal from Lecce.

Dorgu will be the first new arrival of Ruben Amorim’s reign, however, it’s now claimed that United have also made a significant move to strengthen his squad this summer.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola report that United have already secured a deal to sign Quenda in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Sporting are expecting the deal to be worth €60m (£50.1m) and United have been keen put the move in place ready for next season.

Quenda initially started out at Benfica’s academy before he joined Sporting at the age of 13 in 2019.

The 17-year-old signed his first professional contract with Sporting in August 2023 and was given his first-team debut by Amorim a year later.

Quenda has established himself as a key figure in Amorim’s side at right wing-back and would be likely to take up that position at United.

In September, Quenda was rewarded with a new contract which keeps him tied to Sporting until 2027.

As part of the new agreement, Quenda’s release clause was raised from €45m (£37.6m) to €100m (£83.6m).

Speaking before he joined United, Amorim promised Sporting that he would not sign any of their players in the January window.
