RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United two years ago when his performances for RB Salzburg caught the attention of Europe’s leading clubs.

The highly coveted striker ended up making the move between the two sister clubs but now, almost two years later, he finds himself on United’s radar once more.

Sesko has emerged as a striker target for several clubs going into this summer’s transfer window and following his 10th Bundesliga goal of the season on Saturday, journalist Ben Jacobs provided an update on the situation.

As per the reporter, United are one of three clubs considering a move for Sesko, who reportedly has a €50m release clause in his deal with the Bundesliga giants.

It remains to be seen what United’s finances look like this summer but if they are able to get some of their highest earners off the wage bill and collect significant fees while doing so, it is likely they will execute a widespread overhaul of the squad.

There is, however, no guaranteeing that Erik ten Hag will remain in charge beyond the end of this season as there is increasing pressure on the Dutchman to keep his job.

United have fallen far adrift of the Champions League places and their only hope of salvaging anything from this season is winning the FA Cup.

The Reds make the trip to Wembley later this weekend to face Coventry City, with the Championship side standing in the way of a fourth trip to Wembley in just over a year.
