Manchester United have arrived in Los Angeles for the start of their 2024 pre-season tour of the United States.
The tour, which consists of three matches, will help United prepare for the new season as Erik ten Hag’s side look to correct the mistakes we were regularly subjected to on the pitch last term.
It will be a task to achieve that if the players are tired or struggling with jet lag.
Los Angeles is eight hours behind the UK and all three of United’s games begin after midnight BST. That means long nights and early mornings for anyone looking to watch live in these parts of the world.
According to BBC Sport, United are looking to avoid the effects of jet lag by giving the players designated sleep and meal windows, a hydration plan and tailored compression garments to increase blood circulation.
To help the players, training has been scheduled to support and help their body clocks. That is why Friday’s open training session starts at 5 pm local time.
The most important task for the club on a pre-season tour isn’t making money. It’s about preparing the squad for the new season. If United can achieve that we’ll see vast improvements on the pitch.
