Manchester United are preparing a move for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the transfer window opening on June 14.
The Dutchman, 23, joined Bologna from Bayern Munich in 2022.
In his two full seasons in northern Italy, Zirkzee has scored 14 goals in 48 appearances.
12 of those goals came in 37 appearances last term as Bologna secured a historic Champions League finish by finishing in 4th.
United signed Rasmus Hojlund for £71m last summer but the Dane was left isolated up top as Anthony Martial was ruled out for the majority of the season.
The Frenchman will leave the club at the end of this month, freeing up significant room on the wage bill.
And Sky Sports say Zirkzee is a prime candidate to fill Martial’s absence, with United ready to activate a £34m release clause in the striker’s contract.
The Red Devils are said to have made their interest ‘clear’ to the striker’s representatives and to Bologna.
That’s amid interest from Arsenal and AC Milan, who have both kept a close eye on Zirkzee.
