The vultures are out scrapping for snippets of information from the Manchester United dressing room.

Stretty News cited a report over the weekend from The Sun which described Erik ten Hag as being weak, with some United players noticing a change in the manager’s demeanour in recent weeks.

In the four days since that report was published, United split the points with Bournemouth after a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium and the Manchester Evening News claims several players are delaying decisions on their futures due to uncertainty over whether Ten Hag will still be at the club next season.

Samuel Luckhurst reports: “A number of United players are convinced Ten Hag will not remain in charge beyond the current season with the team languishing in seventh in the Premier League table.”

Seven players in the senior squad are out of contract in the summer while poor performances on the pitch mean there will likely be a shake-up in terms of personnel following Sir Jim Ratcliife’s investment.

These reports suggest that Ten could potentially lose the dressing room, but Ineos must decide at the end of the season whether they want to back him over a disgruntled group of players, many of whom have underperformed under previous managers.

I speak from a fans’ perspectives when I say I don’t want another rinse and repeat situation. The club needs stability and we won’t achieve that if we keep chopping and changing managers.

Last season we overachieved under Ten Hag and I think many – including some players – have been very quick to forget that. Well, we haven’t.
