With pressure mounting on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, one possible candidate to replace him has a chance to audition at Old Trafford after the international break.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag looks like he is currently safe and will be in charge for the coming fixtures after the international break.

The former Ajax manager’s job looked under threat heading into the international break after a potential favourite to replace him was named in a meeting between Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the United hierarchy.

However, it is expected that Ten Hag is currently preparing for Manchester United’s game against Brentford at Old Trafford after the international break.

It will be an interesting watch because Brentford’s manager Thomas Frank is one name that has been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace the underfire coach.

He has impressed during his time at Brentford even after the departure of star striker Ivan Toney this summer.

It would be a big jump from Brentford to Manchester United for the Danish coach but he has received many plaudits for his work this season.

With a balanced view, there are many positives around Frank and it can be understood why the Manchester United board currently hold an interest in the Premier League coach.

Frank has a good personality with the media, he often speaks openly and honestly and will also try to explain his tactical understanding post-match.

During his time at Brentford, he has beaten both Manchester United and Manchester City with Guardiola recently praising Frank’s coaching ability after Brentford made it tough for City to secure the three points.

Frank has also created a strong culture at the Gtech Stadium and has a strong bond with the supporters, which is always important when being the face of the club.

However, one reservation about the possible appointment would be his lack of experience at a big club.

Managing Manchester United is a huge pressure and many successful managers including Jose Mourinho have eventually been sacked after poor results.

Ian Wright backs Thomas Frank to be the next big manager in the League

Speaking on the Overlap Stick to Football podcast, pundit Ian Wright has backed the Brentford manager to make a big move in future.

The former Arsenal striker said: “I would like to see him [Thomas Frank] under that kind of pressure at a big club because he does seem a little bit of a mad professor.

“So he’s one of those, where you think to yourself he could either go and turn into a Klopp, or he might not have it, but I get the vibe that he can do more.”
