Some filling stations have reduced the pump price of fuel in Enugu.
LEADERSHIP correspondent who went round Enugu observed that some filling stations have adjusted their pump price to between 660 to 680 naira.
Prior to Tuesday, LEADERSHIP can authoritatively report that no filling station was selling fuel at the pump price of N660 per litre as most of them sold fuel between N690 and N720 per litre.
A marketer, Mr Obinna Ndukwe who spoke to our correspondent attributed the development to a purported promise by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC Ltd’s that there will more supply for marketers at the depot.
Ndukwe stated that already, some marketers have received the product at a price he descrIbed as reasonable.
He promised that the price of fuel will further drop downwards in the future if the NNPC continues to provide the product at the depot.
“I can attribute the small crash to the promise by the NNPC to marketers that there will be more supply for them at the depot.
“I heard that some people have already gotten fuel from the depot as promised by the NNPC, and I expect that if they continue to make the product available, the pump price of fuel will drop
“I even learnt that the NNPC is making the product available at a new price, so why won’t the price drop downwards? We are not comfortable selling fuel at exorbitant price, but we must also recover our capital,” he stated.
