Marseille want Mason Greenwood and it looks like their latest bid has blown Lazio out of the race to sign the Manchester United outcast.

Greenwood is looking for a new club after impressing on a season-long loan at Getafe last season.

The 22-year-old has no future at Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mail, United look increasingly likely to pocket £27million from selling Greenwood to Marseille, which will include a substantial sell-on clause.

Greenwood’s sale will boost the summer transfer budget, which will be music to the ears of fans expecting to see deals materialise over the coming weeks.

The report claims that Greenwood will be the first player to be sold by United this summer, after holding talks with club officials at Carrington.

Serie A outfit Lazio distanced themselves from Greenwood on Monday, with the club president hinting they have a better alternative in mind. This told us that Marseille were closing in on a deal to sign the United forward.

Le10Sport editor Alexis Bernard claims they did not think Marseille had the financial capacity to propose such an offer for Greenwood.

Du côté de Manchester United, on ne pensait pas l’OM en capacité financière de proposer une telle offre pour Mason Greenwood.

25 M€ en montant fixe (hors bonus) pour la première offensive, c’est très costaud…

Stretty News understands that former France and Marseille defender Adil Rami, who speaks good English, is in regular contact with Mason Greenwood. Rami is believed to be house hunting for the forward.

Donny van de Beek set to leave

After four years of failing to settle at Old Trafford, Van de Beek is on the verge of joining La Liga outfit Girona.

The Reds are ready to accept a fee of £450,000 for the Netherlands international. The add-ons could see the deal rise to £16m.

I don’t think United want to be reminded that they paid £35m for Van de Beek in 2020.
