Martin Dubravka is set to leave St James’ Park.

With the 35 year old not finding it difficult to find a new club this summer, according to this latest report.

The Daily Record say that with Joe Hart’s retirement, Celtic are keen on bringing in Martin Dubravka.

Hart played on past his 37th birthday and this update from north of the border says that Brendan Rodgers believes that the experienced Dubravka can do a similar job.

However, the newspaper reports that they face a lot of competition for the Newcastle United goalkeeper.

The Daily Record say their information is that as well as Celtic, there are a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia and on mainland Europe who want to sign Martin Dubravka.

Nick Pope returned to fitness and action at the end of last season and will be number one once again next season, having conceded only 47 goals in 52 Premier League starts for Newcastle United these past two seasons. In contrast, Martin Dubravka has conceded 43 goals in 23 PL starts for NUFC in the same time period.

A major revamp in the goalkeeping department this summer, with Loris Karius departing and Martin Dubravka set to follow, the Slovakian keeper with one year left on his Newcastle contract.

Mark Gillespie was given another year and will be third or fourth choice keeper next season, so the only question is whether Eddie Howe will aim to bring in one or two new keepers. Recent days have seen widespread reports of a £16m bid for 21 year old James Trafford having gone in, with seemingly every chance a deal will be agreed with Burnley for an amount of up to £20m.

Martin Dubravka has been at Newcastle United for six and a half years and is/was just one of many inspired signings by Rafa Benitez on a budget, a loan deal initially and then £4m paid in summer 2018 for a permanent move.

In those first two seasons when Dubravka played under Rafa Benitez, both of the two seasons only six Premier League teams conceded less goals than Newcastle United.
