On social networks, Mason Greenwood sent a farewell message to Getafe.

After a season on loan at Getafe, Mason Greenwood is preparing to return to Manchester United. Accused of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence, the English striker was removed from the Red Devils A team and forced to go into exile in Spain.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Greenwood had an honorable season with the Madrid club. Starting 33 times, he scored 8 goals and delivered 6 assists in 36 appearances. His last match in the colors of the Azulones ended in a defeat (1-2) against Mallorca this Sunday in La Liga.

“A bittersweet ending”

Before leaving the southern suburbs of Madrid, Greenwood wanted to thank Getafe and its supporters on his account Instagram. “Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and the fans for this incredible season. Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own,” he wrote.

And to continue: “I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and the club. A bittersweet ending (1-2 defeat against Mallorca), but it was a pleasure playing for you, I wish you all the best. »
