Mauricio Pochettino left pundits in stitches after he praised a player's 'big balls' post match.

Pochettino's USA men's national team faced Costa Rica in an international friendly, beating the side 3-0 in doing so, but the victory wasn't the only talking point after the final whistle.

Former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Pochettino had high praise for one player in particular, Diego Luna.

Luna contributed an assist for the opening goal, which was scored by Brian White.

This came despite Luna playing with a broken nose having received treatment moments earlier and opting to carry on playing.

Pochettino told TNT Sports: "I was very surprised because it was broken [his nose].

"I didn't want to say too much to him, too much drama. I didn't want to scare [him], but I asked how he was feeling.

"He said, 'please coach let me keep playing, at least after half time'.

"The doctor said okay and his first action, was an assist for a goal. Big balls".

The 'big balls' comment had the punditry team, which had ex-USMNT star DaMarcus Beasley and former Mexico player Miguel Layun in stitches.

With presenter Sara Walsh trying to move the conversation along from the somewhat childish giggling, Pochettino added: "He showed great character."

Real Salt Lake star Luna continued to play throughout the match despite requiring medical attention for his bleeding nose, returning to the pitch with cotton wool up his nostrils.
