Maven Has The Itch To Return To The Ring, But He’s Being Reasonable About It

Maven isn’t opposed to having another match in wrestling.

The former WWE star hasn’t been a full-time wrestler since 2007. He was released by the WWE in 2005 and wrestled for the UWF in 2007. Despite wrestling in the occasional match, most recently in a battle royal in March this year, he is effectively retired from in-ring action.

However, the 47-year-old is not ruling out ever returning to the ring. Maven recently appeared on the latest episode of The False Finish (via AdFreeShows) and was asked if he had “the itch” to get back in the ring again.

Maven revealed that he does have the itch, but is being realistic about it. He noted how he is nearly 50 and has nowhere near the athleticism that a younger star like Ricochet possesses. He said that he’s realistic and knows that one last WWE run is never going to happen.

However, he wouldn’t be opposed to it and would love to go back for a guaranteed paycheck to wrestle again.

“Nah. Well, yeah, okay, I have the itch, but I’m also reasonable. I’m almost 50 years old. Guys like Ricochet have proven to me that the athleticism of the business has long passed me by. To get in to be a competitor, I’m just a rational human being, I know that that’s never gonna happen.”

Maven Wouldn’t Be Opposed To One Last Run

When asked if he was opposed to one last run, Maven said;

“Definitely not. God, it’s wrestling, I’m not opposed to anything. I’ve even said it, if the conditions were right and by that I mean that I knew I had a paycheck coming in and I knew I had a way to heal an injury. I have indie promoters hit me up all the time and they say the same thing, ‘I want to do this, I’m gonna make an easy match for you.’”

“What they don’t realize is that I already know that the older you get, it’s so easier to blow an ACL, to tear an Achilles like Aaron Rodgers. What happens after that? They’re not gonna pay for me and my rehab, I’m not going to go into New York City with crutches. If I had an organization that made the commitment and said, here’s a year contract, you get injured, you’re still gonna be getting paid, you can rehab and not have to worry about it. Then I would, yeah.”

In the past, Maven said he’d listen to an offer from WWE if they called, but he’s still keeping a level head about it all.
