IMG Credit: WWE/All Elite WrestlingThat would have been something. There have been all kinds of WWE Superstars over the years and some of them have had rather strong careers. It can be a big deal when one of them heads somewhere else after leaving WWE, as they can often still offer something else. That was almost the case in AEW, but now it seems that things are going in a rather different direction.

Last year, Shelton Benjamin was released from WWE, leading him to eventually become a free agent. This led to rumors that he could be brought in to AEW for some kind of a role but Benjamin never appeared for the promotion. According to Fightful Select by way of Cagesideseats.com, there were discussions to bring Benjamin in to AEW but someone involved in the plans was injured. This resulted in the plans being halted and Benjamin is now expected to work for Progress Wrestling instead. There is no word on if Benjamin, 48, could appear for AEW in the future.
Benjamin has had quite the career. Check out some of his time in the ring:
Opinion: Benjamin would have been a nice addition to AEW but unfortunately things did not work out as they could have. There are a lot of people he could work with in the promotion and it would not surprise me to see the two sides work together later on. If nothing else, having him around as a trainer or coach of some kind could do AEW quite a bit of good.
What do you think of Benjamin? How would he fit in with AEW? Let us know in the comments below.
