Reigning IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani is welcoming challengers from all different promotions, and she has a couple of names in mind.

Mayu recently joined Masuda Okada’s Radio Hunter for a radio interview to promote some of STARDOM‘s shows. She spoke about her goal to set the record for most consecutive defenses for any IWGP championship, including the men’s.

Mayu Iwatani currently has six successful title defenses since winning the belt from Mercedes Moné at STARDOM All Star Grand Queendom in April 2023. Her challengers have come from all different promotions such as STARDOM, CMLL, and Ice Ribbon. As of the time of writing, she has held the title for a total of 452 days.

Mayu Iwatani then mentioned that her motto throughout this reign is to accept any challenge that comes her way. So when a listener asked about who she wants to face next, she responded with three names: Tam Nakano, Momo Watanabe, and Takumi Iroha. Tam and Momo are both STARDOM talent, and both women have shared a ring with Mayu before. Takumi Iroha, on the other hand, is an outsider from the Chiba-based promotion Marvelous.

However, no official challenge has been made. Mayu Iwatani, Tam Nakano, and Momo Watanabe are all gearing up for the upcoming 5 Star Grand Prix Tournament scheduled to commence in August. Meanwhile, Takumi Iroha will compete at the upcoming Sareee-ISM Chapter IV show in the main event. She will be teaming up with AZM against Natsupoi and SEAdLINNG Beyond The Sea Singles Champion and Marigold World Champion Sareee.
