Michael Cole, widely regarded as the voice of WWE, has expressed his passion for the business and praised the current WWE regime. He highlighted the trust placed in commentators under the current leadership.

Corey Graves made a transition from being a wrestler to a commentator, initially serving as a color commentator alongside Michael Cole. He has now shifted to a play-by-play announcer role on WWE SmackDown.

In a conversation with Chris Novak of Awful Announcing, Michael Cole explained that Corey Graves’ move to play-by-play comes at an opportune time, citing the looser atmosphere and increased trust in commentators under the new WWE regime.

According to Cole, this change allows them to be more authentic, develop character, and call the action in their own style, making it the right moment for Graves to make the transition.

“It’s a different world,” Cole said. “Corey came in at a good time. Under the new regime now, things are looser. The direction’s different. There’s a lot more trust in commentators now than there was before. We are having the opportunity to be ourselves. Open up, develop character, call pro wrestling, sports entertainment, the way we want to. Corey was able to jump in under this new regime, and it was the perfect chance to make a switch. This was the time to do it.”

Even Corey Graves recently stated that he is thankful Triple H doesn’t scream into his headset like Vince McMahon. Nevertheless, things are clearly better for WWE commentators in general right now and fans couldn’t be happier about that fact.
