Nigerians have begun criticising Multichoice Nigeria Ltd on social media over the planned increase in prices of packages on its flagship platforms DStv and GOtv.

The company announced the proposed increase in an email to customers on Wednesday.

The email reads, “Dear valued customer, price adjustment on DStv and GOtv packages. On Wednesday, 1 May 2024 we will adjust our prices across all our packages on DStv and GOtv.

“We understand the impact this change may have on you – our valued customer, but the rise in the cost of business operations, has led us to make this difficult decision.

“It remains our mission to provide the best entertainment and viewing experience to you and are committed to continue to deliver high-quality content and unparalleled service.”

What’s the justification for the continuous price increase by Multichoice / DSTV?

For me this doesn’t make any sense at all and whenever prices are increase it doesn’t come down.

DSTV needs competition in Nigeria, the monopoly is what is causing this rubbish.

15,700 to watch The Equalizer every day is insane
