MJF Beats Will Ospreay, Wins AEW International Title On 7/17 AEW Dynamite

MJF is a champion once again.

On the July 17th episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay defended the AEW International Championship against MJF. The two stars have been feuding in recent weeks, leading into their buzzworthy showdown on Wednesday.

MJF taunted the crowd early on before he and Ospreay felt each other out. MJF dodged an early Hidden Blade attempt. He and Ospreay traded counters, and the champion gained the upper hand with a dive to the outside. MJF dropped Ospreay with a cheap shot and took control. They kept going back and forth.

Ospreay got a table and set it up at ringside. The match returned to the ring, and MJF spiked Ospreay with a piledriver. MJF grounded Ospreay and maintained the advantage.

Ospreay fired up with a clothesline that left both men down. Ospreay rallied with an Os-cutter. He went for another on the apron, but MJF avoided it, so the champion landed hard on the apron. MJF took control again and targeted Ospreay’s shoulder. Ospreay kept fighting as he fired up with a flurry of offense.

Ospreay slammed MJF for a two-count. The two competitors went back outside, and MJF tried to leave. Ospreay stopped him, and they fought in the crowd. Ospreay put MJF on a table, but the challenger rolled off and got back in the ring. They traded pin attempts, and MJF drilled Ospreay with a kick. MJF floored Ospreay with the Panama Sunrise. MJF continued to control the bout, but Ospreay caught him with an Os-cutter on the floor. Back in the ring, Ospreay got a two-count with a Crossrhodes.

MJF crotched Ospreay on the ropes and dropped him with a lariat. They battled on the apron, and Ospreay hit a Styles Clash on the apron. The medical team checked on Ospreay during a commercial break. Ospreay drilled MJF with a Hidden Blade and superkick. MJF countered an Os-cutter into a Tombstone for a two-count. Ospreay sent MJF to the floor and dove onto him with a Hidden Blade at ringside.

Ospreay got MJF back in the ring and hit another Hidden Blade for a two-count. The champion hit an avalanche Styles Chash, but MJF reached the ropes. MJF responded with a Heatseeker. He put Ospreay on a table and drove him through it with a diving elbow. Ospreay got a two-count with a pin attempt. They traded pin attempts, and Ospreay hit MJF with a superkick. They kept going back and forth as they exchanged counters and pin attempts. Ospreay hit a Spanish Fly for a two-count.

Ospreay drilled MJF with a Hidden Blade for another two-count. MJF dodged a Hidden Blade, and Ospreay went for the Tiger Driver, but he hesitated and put MJF down. MJF shoved Ospreay into the referee, and he punched Ospreay with his Dynamite Diamond ring for the win.

Doctors checked on MJF and Ospreay after the bell.

Ospreay previously beat Roderick Strong to win the title at AEW Double or Nothing.
