EXCLUSIVE: After its Toronto world premiere, Well Go USA has acquired all North American rights for the sci-fi romance Daniela Forever from XYZ Films.

Spanish filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo’s (Colossal) new movie sees Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding play a man struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of his girlfriend (The White Lotus breakout Beatrice Grannò) in an accident six months prior. So, he signs up for a sleep trial that allows him to reconstruct his life with her through the use of lucid dreams.

Well Go USA is lining up a theatrical release in the first half of 2025.

Nahikari Ipiña and Nacho Vigalondo are producing at Sayaka Producciones, along with Benoit Roland at Wrong Men, Leire Apellaniz at Señor y Señora, and XYZ Films. XYZ Films financed with backing from IPR.VC. The film was produced with the participation of Filmin and Movistar Plus+ in Spain, Wallimage from Belgium and will be distributed in Spain by Filmax with additional funding from ICAA (Spanish Film Institute).

The rights deal was brokered by Doris Pfardrescher for Well Go USA and by Nate Bolotin and Pip Ngo on behalf of XYZ Films.

“In Daniela Forever, Nacho Vigalondo has again demonstrated his unique capacity for complex, evocative storytelling,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO at Well Go USA. “His characteristic creativity and empathy are on full display throughout this powerful exploration of grief, love, loss and the potential consequences of attempting to alter our realities. This is a film that will stick with viewers long after the credits roll.”

“My dream has always been making films as if they were a true adventure, both for us in the making and for the audiences at the theater. Daniela Forever is romantic sci-fi, but also existential horror, tragic but silly, intimate but funny. A movie like this needs unique partners and I’m so proud Well Go USA has joined us through this unique journey,” added Nacho Vigalondo.
