Naples did no better than a disappointing draw this Sunday, on the Lazio pitch (0-0, 22nd day of Serie A).
The reigning Serie A champion’s dismal season continues. Far from the pomp and play which allowed it to crush the competition to win the Scudetto last May, the Neapolitan team, today coached by Walter Mazzarri, is no longer capable of such a performance. She showed it again this Sunday, during a trip to Lazio (0-0, 22nd day).
In this duel against the sixth in the ranking, the Azzurri were unable to do well. Even if they dominated their opponents, in terms of ball possession (61%), the visitors were therefore unable to find the fault. Not a single shot on target in the entire match. Fortunately for them, things weren’t much better on the Roman side since Mattéo Guendouzi’s partners only scored once in ten attempts. Result, no goal and therefore no winner.
In the standings, Lazio remains on the bottom European step (6th), while Napoli does not advance to the middle of the table (9th). President De Laurentiis’ club is two points from Europe.
