Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and striker Alexander Isak have been linked with the move away from the club.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the two players could leave the club if Newcastle finished in the mid-table position.

Bailey believes that they were promised Champions League football and they are unlikely to hang around if Newcastle continue to disappoint.

“Finishing below eighth for them, why would they hang around? It’s their careers. They were sold the dream. When Bruno and Isak were being sold this dream, they weren’t being sold ‘come play for Eddie Howe and although we’ll finish mid-table it’ll be a great laugh’. That’s not what they signed for. They signed for Champions League football year in year out. They signed to push the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.”

They are currently 10th in the league table and the two players are expected to leave in the summer if Newcastle fails to finish the season in a respectable position.

In addition to that, there have been rumours that Newcastle could be forced to sell key players in order to balance the books if they miss out on Champions League qualification.

It is highly unlikely that they will be able to finish in the top four, especially from their current position.

Players like Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak will have no shortage of suitors in the summer and it will be interesting to see where they end up.
