Newcastle fans flood social media with #HoweOut before comeback in Luton thriller

Newcastle fans called for Eddie Howe to be sacked on social media before a quickfire comeback in the thrilling 4-4 draw with Luton.

The Magpies' performances this season have been a far cry from their displays last term when they finished in the Premier League top four.

They hosted a spirited Luton on Saturday, with Rob Edward's side proving to be difficult opponents despite them teetering above the relegation zone.

Sean Longstaff scored either side of Gabriel Osho's header to give Newcastle a 2-1 lead, but Ross Barkley equalised before half-time.

Luton then sensationally made it 4-2 in the second-half courtesy of a Carlton Morris penalty and a low strike from Elijah Adebayo.

Not long after the Hatters netted their fourth goal, Newcastle fans took to X and flooded the platform with #HoweOut messages.

Newcastle won just one of their past five league matches prior to the visit of Luton and fan patience may well be running thin.

However, five minutes after Adebayo's goal, Kieran Trippier pulled one back for the Magpies before Harvey Barnes equalised for 4-4.

The two sides went on to share the points at St. James' Park in what was an entertaining affair, with Luton likely the happier side despite losing their two-goal lead.

Many tipped Edwards and co. to finish in the bottom three at the beginning of the season but their performances against the top sides show they're willing to prove their doubters wrong.

All the traditional 'big six' clubs have found it tough against the Hatters, with Liverpool only able to seal a draw at Kenilworth Road.

Newcastle lost the reverse fixture in December and discovered once again this weekend just how difficult it can be to face Luton.

Howe's side have dropped to ninth in the table and are 11 points behind the top four after 23 games played.
