Newcastle’s win over Tottenham puts some added pressure on Manchester United today.

Alexander Isak smashed his way through the 20-goal barrier as Newcastle boosted their European hopes by denting those of Tottenham.

The Reds travel to the Vitality Stadium where they will take on Bournemouth, who won the reverse fixture 3-0 at Old Trafford in December, in a take that was already a must-win as far as Erik ten Hag is concerned.

No matter how bad things get at United this season, I think it would be an added blow if we were to finish below an injury-ravaged Newcastle side that has been awful since the beginning of the campaign (like ourselves).

It bodes well that Bournemouth saw an unbeaten run come to an abrupt end last weekend when they were beaten 2-1 by Luton Town.

All we can ask of United is to do their job by winning football matches. We cannot control what happens to Aston Villa or Tottenham, but we need to start winning games consistently. Otherwise, we’re on a road to nowhere.

I would look at Newcastle’s win over Tottenham today as a positive if we can beat Bournemouth.
