In a friendly match held in Marrakech, Morocco, on Friday evening, Nigeria secured a victory over their Ghana rivals.
Nigeria earned a 2-1 victory over Ghana during the clash that featured the two West African countries.
The FIFA international break provided the opportunity for the two teams to compete against each other. The Super Eagles displayed dominance in the early stages of the game, securing the lead through Cyril Dessers.
Dessers confidently converted a penalty kick in the 38th minute, placing Nigeria ahead on the scoreboard. Despite numerous opportunities, Nigeria, led by coach Finidi George, failed to capitalize on more chances, with Dessers and Kelechi Iheanacho squandering scoring opportunities.
However, in the second half, Alex Iwobi delivered a precise pass to Ademola Lookman in the box, who struck the ball emphatically for Nigeria’s second goal. Although Jordan Ayew managed to score a late goal for Ghana, it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome of the match.
Next, the Eagles are scheduled to face Mali in another friendly match in four days.
