What could have been. A wrestling show involves a lot of moving parts, some of which can be changed at the very last minute despite plans being set up long in advance. While things might seem to be taking place as they were supposed to, it can later come out that plans were changed out of nowhere. Now a former WWE Superstar is claiming that he was planned to win two major matches but plans were changed for one reason or another.

Former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle took part in a Signed By Superstars virtual signing where he claimed that he was scheduled to win two important matches. First, Riddle said he thinks he was told he was going to win the 2022 Royal Rumble but Brock Lesnar came in and said he was winning it instead, with no one telling him no. This came on the same night that Lesnar lost the WWE Championship to Bobby Lashley and was not scheduled to be in the Royal Rumble.
Second, Riddle said that he was scheduled to win the 2022 Money In The Bank ladder match, which was won by Austin Theory in a Vince McMahon decision hours before the match took place. There is no word on why it was decided to move on from Riddle winning both matches. Riddle was released from WWE in September 2023.
