The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has appealed for information to help identify the parents or relatives of a teenager, Quadija Abimbola, who was found wandering the streets of Owode Community in Ede.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, Kehinde Adeleke, on Wednesday, Quadija was discovered around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, wandering the streets of Owode-Ede.

She was subsequently taken to the NSCDC division in the area by a good samaritan.

Adeleke explained that during questioning, Quadija disclosed that she travelled with her mother, Mrs Aishat Abimbola and three siblings from Lagos to Osun State to celebrate the New Year festival.

He stated, “A 15-year-old female child, Quadija Abimbola, has been found wandering at Owode-Ede, Osun State. Quadija was discovered roaming the streets at 1:00 a.m. on January 19, 2025, and was taken to a nearby Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Owode-Ede division by a good Samaritan.

“According to the girl, she travelled with her mother, Mrs Aishat Abimbola, and three siblings from Lagos to Osun State for New Year’s celebrations. After the festivities, her mother took her to Owode-Ede market to sell detergent, promising to pick her up after the day’s sales. However, her mother failed to return.”

Despite efforts to trace Quadija’s parents or relatives, the NSCDC has so far been unsuccessful.

“NSCDC Osun State Command is appealing to anyone with information about Quadija’s family to come forward and assist in reuniting her with her loved ones,” the statement added.
