NXT recently took place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, more popularly known as the ECW Arena. During the event, ECW veteran Nunzio showed up and had a conversation with Tony D’Angelo. Their interaction led to a NXT North American Championship match between the two and The Don of NXT retained his title.
While speaking to Steve Fall of Ten Count Media, Nunzio shared how the match came about.
“Yeah. I don’t know how it all came together. I mean, they do the Italian gimmick down there. And they were doing a show at the arena. They were bringing some guys back. And they gave me a call out of the blue and asked if I was interested in doing it. I said, ‘Yeah.’ They said, ‘We are going to give Tony [Mamaluke] a call too. And we have got some ideas.’ And we took it from there and uh… It just worked out.
“Perfect timing. Timing is everything. Just look back… It’s one and done. But it was a good time. And it was nice to be back. Nice to see the guys. Couple of guys… I knew a lot of them that I know by face. Because I see them on TV, I watch the show. But it was nice getting to meet some of them and it was a good time. It was a good time for everybody.”
He also shared that the D’Angelo Family was very respectful and he wishes the best for them.
“Yeah he was one of the guys that I never met before personally. I know him on TV. And yeah. All those guys were great. All of them They’re very respectful and stuff like that. It was good. It was a real good time. And I wish those guys luck,” Nunzio said.
