Obasanjo visits Katsina, mourns with Yar’adua family

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday visited Katsina State to express his condolences to the Yar’adua family following the death of Hajiya Dada Yar’adua, mother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

Upon his arrival at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina, Obasanjo was received by the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, the deceased grandson, former Minister of State for Defence, Murtala Shehu Yar’adua, and Inuwa Baba, former Chief of Protocol to President Obasanjo.

The former president in the company of the Katsina Governor and his delegations were received at the Yar’adua family residence by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, along with Katsina business mogul, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal.

The eldest child of the Yar’adua matriarch, the late General Shehu Yar’Adua was the Chief of Staff at Supreme Headquarters when Obasanjo served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1976 to 1979.

While paying tribute to Hajiya Dada Yar’adua, Obasanjo recalled her as a loving mother known for her kindness and hospitality. He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant her eternal peace.

Other high-profile personalities in Katsina today to pay their condolences to the Yar’Adua family include two former Nigeria Vice Presidents, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Alhaji Namadi Sambo, as well as the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum.
