There has been movement in the odds market to replace Erik ten Hag – and, unsurprisingly because of recent tabloid reports, it’s former Brighton and Chelsea manager Graham Potter who has seen some backing from the punters.
Potter, who has reportedly met with United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has been cut as low as 2/1 with some bookmakers.
Gareth Southgate is another unpopular name being put forward as a potential candidate for the job. I don’t know any United fan who thinks it would be a good idea to replace Ten Hag with the England manager. The same applies to Potter.
Latest odds:
Southgate 6/4 Potter 2/1 Tuchel 8/1 Lopetegui 10/1 Amorim 10/1 Nagesmann 12/1 Zidane 12/1 Frank 14/1Although we need to see plenty of change at Old Trafford this summer, the club also needs stability in the form of the manager. Ten Hag has not had a proper football structure around him since his arrival and I firmly believe he deserves a third season to get it right.
Many pundits are quick to forget United overachieved in Ten Hag’s first season as manager. Yes, this campaign has been a complete write-off, but I wouldn’t write us off from winning the FA Cup. That would be a good way to end the season, wouldn’t it?
