Barcelona have been extremely unlucky with injuries all season, much like any other top club in Spain.
Be it Pedri’s consistent absence or the discomfort Andreas Christensen has been playing with all season, to Gavi’s ACL tear or Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s back injury, one of the biggest reasons behind Barcelona’s poor form this season is thin squad depth that has been exposed because of injuries.
Even as recently as the Athletic Club game in the Copa del Rey, Alejandro Balde picked up a knee injury, and is now ruled out for the rest of the season.
And if that was not enough for a week on top of Xavi’s resignation, Barcelona have just officially communicated an injury to Joao Felix in training today.
“In training this morning, first-team player Joao Felix sprained a ligament in his right ankle. He is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return,” the press release stated.

With Raphinha also out of action, Barcelona have just Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, and Vitor Roque as first-team forwards. Lamine Yamal is also a part of the squad, but is technically still contracted to the youth side.
The Catalans will take on Osasuna tomorrow evening for matchday 20 of La Liga, hoping to return to winning ways after the 3-5 defeat at the hands of Villarreal this weekend.
