Official: Barcelona trio included in La Liga team of the season

With the season almost on the verge of reaching a conclusion, La Liga has released the final Team of the Season, comprising some of the best performers of the 2023/24 campaign.

It is no secret that Barcelona will be displeased with the way the club have performed in the league this season, as they surrender the title to arch-rivals Real Madrid.

However, even in a poor season, there are certain Barcelona players who have been standout performers throughout the campaign.

Three Barcelona players in La Liga TOTS

In fact, no less than three Barcelona players have been included in La Liga Team of the Season, the club confirmed in a social media post.

Ilkay Gundogan is the first of the three players and quite deservedly so. The German has been one of the more consistent performers for Barça after he joined the club last summer.

Gundogan’s experience, leadership and technical qualities have been critical in helping Barcelona out, especially in a season where midfielders like Pedri and Gavi have suffered from injuries.

Ronald Araujo is the second Barcelona player to have been included in La Liga TOTS – a decision that might surprise many given the defender’s recent woes.

However, it must be noted that Araujo has been a standout performer in the Barcelona defence, building a solid base in central defence alongside Pau Cubarsi.

The third Barcelona player to feature in La Liga TOTS is Robert Lewandowski, which is indeed quite surprising.

The Polish international, after all, has struggled with goalscoring consistency this season and has only been a shadow of his former self. Yet, his 17 goals have ensured a place in La Liga’s Team of the Season. =
