Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured that his administration will continue to collaborate with the Federal Government to accelerate development in the state.

Okpebholo gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City.

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering interest in Edo State, noting that the state had recorded significant developmental strides under his administration.

“Since President Tinubu adopted Edo as his second home, we have witnessed a lot of growth. Working closely with the Federal Government, Edo will become the envy of other states,” he said.

Okpebholo also hailed Madein’s leadership at the Office of the Accountant-General, describing her appointment as a step in the right direction.

“She is a due process person, and since assuming office, she has brought remarkable improvements to the system. Her work ethic shows that she is the right person for the job,” he said.

The governor expressed gratitude to the Tinubu administration for prioritizing Edo’s development despite political differences, adding that his government would remain committed to delivering people-oriented projects.

Earlier, the Accountant-General said her visit was part of a nationwide assessment of Federal Pay Offices across the six geopolitical zones.

“We are evaluating Federal Pay Offices in each zone, and Edo State was chosen for this region. We are also constructing a new building to house the Federal Pay Office, which will serve as a replica of the Treasury House of the Federal Government in the state,” she explained.

Madein stated that Federal Pay Offices play a critical role in treasury management for all “federal institutions across the states, ensuring transparency and accountability in financial operations.
