Oliver Bearman to Race for Haas In Sao Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix, Kevin Magnussen Out Sick

Oliver Bearman is getting in another F1 race under his belt!

The 19-year-old Haas and Ferrari Formula 1 reserve driver stepped in for Free Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying on Friday (November 1) during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend, as Haas’ Kevin Magnussen was out sick.

This meant that Ollie would be participating in the Sprint Race on Saturday morning, but if he was feeling up to it, Kevin would have returned for the grand prix qualifying on Saturday afternoon.

After sprint qualifying, it was announced that Kevin would be out all weekend and Oliver would be taking his place for qualifying and the grand prix on Sunday (November 3)!

“Following Ollie stepping into the VF-24 for today’s sessions due to Kevin’s sickness, we can confirm that the British driver will now complete the full #BrazilGP weekend with the team. 🇧🇷,” Haas shared on Instagram. “We wish Kevin a full and speedy recovery. 🙏”

During Free Practice 1, Oliver delivered an impressive third place time and in Sprint Qualifying, he made it to round three, but unfortunately his time was deleted for track limits and he ended the session with P10.

Early on this season, Oliver filled in for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and scored his first points in Formula 1. Then, in September he filled in for Kevin again after the driver received a one race ban. Oliver scored points again, bringing his total to seven for the two races.

In July, Oliver signed a Formula 1 contract for the second seat on Haas in 2025 and beyond. He will be teamed with Esteban Ocon next year for the US-based team!

We are sending out our well wishes to Kevin and hope he feels better soon.
