After having refused several approaches from Juventus to extend his contract, Adrien Rabiot also said no to several major European clubs to finally commit to Olympique de Marseille for the next two seasons. Welcomed like a rock star by a crowd of 500 people at Marignane airport in Marseille before being made official, the former Juventus captain was criticized for his career choice by an Italian newspaper.

Tuttosport does not understand his choice to opt for Olympique de Marseille when he could have played in the Champions League with the Bianconeri. “It’s a sad ending. He will see Juve’s return to the Champions League in front of the TV and in his hotel. And to think that he wanted to play the competition as a protagonist (…) Tonight, the Old Lady returns to the Champions League. He will hear the anthem in front of his TV.”the Italian daily reported.
