The Saudi consortium which was thinking of buying OM would now have its sights set on another European club.
Long interested in the takeover of OM, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia is now eyeing another European team. He is reportedly in talks with AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin.
According to La Repubblica, negotiations are underway and the legal manager of AS Roma is currently in Riyadh. Eric Williamson, who works closely with Friedkin, was also seen in the Saudi capital this week.
OM overtaken by an Italian club
Also circulating is the name of Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, who has already visited the Trigoria training ground with Roma shirt sponsor Riyadh Season.
The request for the sale of Roma made by the Friedkins is around 1 billion euros. The offer would be for 900 million euros immediately, plus 300 million euros in the form of a clause. An option which will be triggered if Rome gives the green light to the final project for the new Roma stadium in Pietralata.
All this news is not really good for OM. Or at least his supporters. The latter had great hopes that the wealthy Saudis would arrive in their club and replace Frank McCourt at the helm.
